A Newborn Photographer Captures Holiday Wonder & Magic

A Newborn Photographer Captures Holiday Wonder & Magic

The month of December is by far the most "magical" month of the year.  Between the joys of the approaching holidays and the impending snowfall, which creates a beautiful backdrop for almost every scene, December is very special.

As the parent of a newborn, it's important for you to know that you've captured these special moments in your baby's life. There's no better gift that you could give yourself and your family than newborn photographs that will keep these memories etched in your mind long after your little one has gone off to college.

The Magic of the Season

Remember when you were a small child?  The month of December held so much promise for you.  As your family gathered together to celebrate, each day seemed like it held its own magic; even long before Christmas Day arrived.  The love and joy that's ever-present during this important time of the year was shared with you in very special ways.  It's a time when family and friends enjoy delicious dinners and decadent desserts.  It's a time of bright lights and beautiful decorations that can't help but bring a smile to your face.

However, all too soon, those special moments are gone.  December rolls into New Year's Day, and we all begin thinking about the "to-dos" of the New Year.  Remember, it's important to capture these precious moments during the most magical time of year!

The Importance of a Newborn Photographer

As a
newborn photographer, I understand your need to hang on to those special occasions forever.  I also have unique ways to "capture the magic,” giving you beautiful, classic photos that you'll immediately fall in love with.  Your baby will only be this little once.  Even though your friends and family will be cooing over your son or daughter for years to come, there's something different about the month of December.  Like every parent, you'll probably purchase some festive clothes to help your baby "look the part" of a Christmas angel.  Those clothes will be far too snug this time next year.

I love the innocence and purity that lies within the eyes of a newborn baby during the winter months.  I absolutely adore being able to capture the reflection of Christmas lights in their eyes.  There's also something special about catching your little one snoozing on a blanket of white, wearing a Santa hat (because who doesn't want to witness their little bundle in an over-sized Santa hat!).  During this season, the possibilities for great newborn pictures are endless.

Capturing The Memories

There are so many special memories to be made during this holiday season.  Without photographs to commemorate them, those memories will fade all too soon as your baby grows.  As your dedicated
newborn photographer, I make it my personal mission to be sure that doesn't happen.  Contact me today to set up your newborn baby's appointment. I'll capture the beauty of the season (and your baby) in a way that you'll remember for all time.

Baby Photographer, Maternity Photographer, Mommy: Thankful for it all!

Baby Photographer, Newborn Photographer, Maternity Photographer, Baby's First Year Photographer....I go by many titles but the ones I am most thankful for is Wife and Mommy.  As a silver lining to unfortunate circumstances I will soon be spending a little more time as this wife and mommy =).  Many of you may know this year I had severe carpal tunnel syndrome in both of my hands leading to surgery and it was only a short month after my baby was born - was a very rough season.  But I continued on and moved forward only to now have the CTS return in my left hand, so disappointing.    So I am going to be slowing down just a bit, booking very limited sessions now.  Bitsy Baby Photography has been a beautiful blessing to me, my clients are the best ever, my cottage studio is on my property so I walk only steps out my front door to go to work, just can't be better!

I am in love with babies and so thankful to share in special times with these families!
I wish all the 2012 newborns a very happy 1st Thanksgiving!

Beautiful Holiday Photos With A Newborn Photographer

Beautiful Holiday Photos With A Newborn Photographer

It seems like only yesterday when your baby was going barefoot and enjoying the green summer grass in your backyard.  Hard to believe, the holidays will be here before you know it.  Your baby's first experience with the holidays only comes once in a lifetime, and it's certainly a special time that you'll want to capture for years to come; both for yourself and to share with your friends and family.

Preparation Is Everything

Depending on what type of photographs you want of your baby, and how you want to use them, it's important to get the process started as early as possible.  Take some time and figure out what you would like to do with your pictures.  Many parents use those first special holiday pictures on the greeting cards they send to their loved ones.  If you're planning on having parties at your home this year, a holiday picture of your baby will be the perfect conversation piece.  In order to be sure you can get your cards sent out on time, you'll want to make your appointment with your
newborn photographer as soon as possible.  It also takes time for your proofs to be produced, so early planning is essential to making sure the pictures you need are in your hands before the holidays arrive.

Planning For Your Baby's Pictures

Your
newborn photographer will want to capture the innocence and "cuteness" of your precious little one in various settings.  Whether it’s a pine tree or some beautiful lights in the background, you'll want have the perfect outfit planned.  Many parents have certain props that they want to include in these special first holiday photographs.  Perhaps you have a special family heirloom that only comes out around this time of year.  These types of accent pieces are the perfect touch to your baby's pictures, and they create a unique photograph that can be a keepsake for your family for years to come.

Choose A Great Newborn Photographer

In order to get those priceless photos of your baby, you'll definitely want to work with a
professional newborn photographer who knows how to capture each and every moment well.  At Bitsy Baby, we know what makes a great newborn photograph and we're excited to share in these special holiday memories with you and your family.

There's something so magical about this time of year, and for your newborn baby's first holiday season, you want only the best pictures to show off to your friends and family.  Give us a call today to check availability and schedule your session.

Baby Photography Post Processing {Baby Photographers}

Wow, can we say MONDAY =)

I wanted to just write a little note here to let everyone know I'm working as best I humanly can to return these sweet little baby photography galleries to my valued portrait clients.  I value my business and a high level of customer service as well as a reasonable turn-around time.

Baby's skin typically will have issues needing detailed retouching work; I will admit babies skin is rarely "Gerber Baby" perfect =)  Now you would never know this because you only see the gallery of final completely edited portraits.  I will include a couple before and after images here just as to quickly show an example of some of the Photoshop processing I will do to every single portrait in your final gallery.  Not all photographers do this, I do....I try to eliminate every imperfection (which is normal for a newborn) such as white spots, distracting peeling skin or uneven coloring.

In addition to detailed and technical post processing work, we also had a long weekend recently, Labor Day.  I do take holidays off when possible though not always.  I'll get a little personal as well, my husband recently deployed so technically I'm a single Mom of a 4 yr old with separation anxiety issues and a 6 month old who has decided to stop sleeping through the night.  Yet I do still have regular childcare as well as some late nights to work nearly daily and indeed put my baby portrait business a priority in my life.  If you are unfamiliar with this industry some professional photographers take 4, 5, even 6 weeks to return images so I am positive I am within a reasonable time with a 3 week turn-around average.

If your baby portrait session was within the last month then I probably mentioned to you my turn-around, at this time, is around 2-3 weeks (not including the holiday) and I am doing my best to make this happen.  However, it can be longer, which is why the session agreement provided states "three to five weeks".  I know it's not easy to wait but I try to make it worth it by delivering perfect portraits which will be in your family for many generations.  Three weeks is not long to wait when you consider you will be enjoying these when you are 80 =)

The Importance of a Newborn Photographer

Innocence and Wonder That Lasts Forever...Even After They're Grown

The most beautiful and precious moments occur during those first few weeks of life. You know the ones. They're the moments that when you blink, they're gone. Babies are, indeed, a precious gift. If only you could capture every moment of those first few weeks...few months...few years. You'd hold onto them forever, right?

The Importance of a Newborn Photographer

Working with a newborn photographer should be one of the most special experiences you have during the weeks right after you bring your little bundle of joy home for the first time. Other than you, there isn't anyone else who instinctively knows how to draw out that chubby little grin, or how to create that angelic expression you know will be gone in a few short years. The perfect "memory maker" will catch that special glimmer in your baby's eye one minute, and create a masterpiece out of their feet the next.

Some Innocent Fun

Babyhood is a magical time and every one of us has wished at one time or another, to experience that kind of freedom one more time. Babies are unpredictably funny and clever, even as newborns. It is important to capture that innocent fun because those moments don't last forever. You may always remember the sound of your baby's giggle when her toes get tickled. Having those fun expressions captured in beautiful photography keeps the look of your precious little one fresh in your mind forever.

Fun With Props

One of the
best things about working with a newborn photographer is having access to the best props to make your baby portraits look absolutely adorable. So, whether he's in a basket with a fluffy blanket or propped up in a wood bowl with a fuzzy fur, his beauty will shine through. Babies love to play with props too. They love to be placed in front of a mirror and stare at themselves, which creates a gorgeous effect in their pictures. And once they fall asleep...well, there's nothing as captivating as the sight of a newborn baby, dreaming soundly.

A newborn photographer has what you need to make those beautiful baby moments last a lifetime. Long after they're grown and gone off to college, and even married with children of their own, you'll have their photographs. Your children will love that you captured their innocence in those early weeks too. And your grandchildren...well, they might not believe that mom or dad could ever look like that. But you'll know the truth.

The truth is, you can't keep them little forever...but you can capture their beauty to enjoy for the rest of your life.

Inspiring Newborn Photographers To Grow and Succeed
My camera is not only an extension of my eyes, but of my heart, and I am truly in love with what I do...”
-Rita of Bitsy Baby Photography

These words sum up a dream nearly 20 years in the making. What began with a camera and the passion of one newborn photographer has grown into a full-fledged business, with opportunities to help and inspire others within the same trade.
The success of Bitsy Baby Photography has not only inspired fledgling newborn photographers to learn more about the possibilities of growing their own business, but Rita of Bitsy Baby has found an inspiring way to help these photographers learn from her experience and passion for the art.
The Bitsy Baby studio is where baby photographers come to teach, to learn, and to mentor each other. In addition to a community-gathering place for photographers, the studio is also where dreams come true and life-long memories are made for parents. This is where the magic of their baby’s first year blooms; forever captured in the camera lens of a newborn photographer.

The Craft of Making a Newborn Photographer Blossom

Rita is expanding Blooming Baby Workshop offerings in order to provide more photographers to learn the skills to build a successful business and to help more parents create photo memories. These thorough photography classes cover the multi-faceted aspects of operating a successful baby-focused photography business. Each workshop includes practice sessions with babies from 0 to 12 months of age.

There are three workshop styles to choose from:
• Non-professional (individuals with a photographic hobby)
• Blooming Baby Business Workshops (group sessions or one-on-one)
• Online mentoring

The group experience is ideal for the newborn photographer that already has a basic knowledge of camera usage and manual shooting capabilities. The one-on-one workshop is best for photographers that need more technical help with the basics.

These workshops are formatted to be as comprehensive as possible by covering the practical side of a baby photography business as well as the professional side. Attendees can expect to walk away with a greater understanding of efficient every day workflow (scheduling, prep work, session length, troubleshooting etc.) and marketing savvy (business set-up, sales tips, self-promotion etc.). An extra six months of online follow-up support is also included in the workshop package.

Resource Information

BitsyBaby.com also has newborn photographer resources, session rates, and workshop pricing. If you have questions about any of the information listed, please contact us.
What started out as a personal journey to understand and share in the miraculous blessing of new life has truly become something magical and inspiring.
If there’s anything a newborn photographer knows, it’s how fast time passes, but sometimes-if we’re lucky-we catch a glimpse of it to hold onto. That’s what it feels like to live your dream. It is our hope that the dream only grows and spreads with each passing year. Your support helps make that goal achievable.
